Our mission is to assist community members in enhancing their relationship with God, however that may be, by providing opportunities for spiritual growth in our ordinary, daily life outside of weekend liturgies. The Spirituality Commission sponsors a number of activities throughout the year to help community members become closer to God. Some of the activities have included weekly reflections during Advent, Lent and Easter; Stations of the Cross and Tenebrae Service; the Women of the Bible presentation; Bible Study sessions and more.
What does it mean to have a Mass "offered" for someone?
An individual may ask a priest to offer a Mass for several reasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person (such as on a birthday), or, as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. If you are interested in offering a Mass for someone, please complete this MASS INTENTION FORM and return to the office. Masses will be confirmed once the office has them scheduled.
This information can be put in an envelope labeled MASS INTENTIONS and placed in the collection basket, mail or dropped off at the office.
The First Friday Memorial Mass Association is an offering made by parishioners, through which their intentions are remembered at a special Mass to be celebrated on the first Friday of each month at 12:30pm. Contact the office for more information.
PRAYER CHAINIf you would like to be part of the prayer chain, and/or make a prayer request, please contact Lynn Gilkey at [email protected] or at 206.228.2504. Email requests are sent to everyone at once. If you prefer to be part of the phone chain, it will entail making a phone call to the next person on the chain. We are all called to lift one another up in prayer and this ministry provides just such an opportunity!
Since the Eucharist is integral to our identity as Catholics, it is vital that we make the Eucharist available to community members who are homebound, in nursing homes, or are hospitalized. Trained ministers bring the presence of Christ with their care and compassion, so that the homebound realize that their faith community is praying with them and for them. Contact Loretta Kliver at 219/670-0684 or [email protected] to request a visit or to find out more about training to become a minister of care.
