The Church always needs new leaders! Our Peer Ministry program seks to train and empower students who have been fed by Christ and now hear His calling to feed others. Saint Teresa's hires 4 Peer Ministers per year to aid our Director of Collegiate Outreach in specific areas throughout the year.
We encourage our Peer Ministers to meet with other students and plan events focused on their own interests. As a Peer Minister, you are given the opportunity to leave your mark and help shape our ministry.
Our Peer Ministers live in the Frassati House on our property. This communal living situation encourages them to live a deliberate, Christian life and encourage each other in this pursuit. Peer Ministry is intended to be both a year of service and a year of formation. Peer Ministers pray together at least once a week and are required to eat one large meal per week together.
This communal aspect of the program focuses them on being Christ-like servants to each other first, so that they can then go out and serve others in the same way. Our Peer Ministers form life-long friendships during their year of service!
Along with their general duties of offering valuable input and as role models, each Peer Minister is responsible for a specific area of ministry throughout the year.
The Faith Formation Peer Minister is responsible for keeping his/her finger on the spiritual "pulse" of the student community. This person's biggest role is in planning and developing the Fall and Spring retreats with the Director of Collegiate Outreach. He/she will also plan small faith-based events throughout the year. This position is open to a lot of creativity and we encourage a wide variety of prayerful experiences for students (like Adoration, speakers on faith topics, Lectio Divina, the Rosary, etc.).
This Peer Minister's role is to come up with a myriad of social events for students throughout the year. His/her main job is to help students have fun and bond as brothers and sisters in Christ. The person in this position is selected because of his/her willingness to be creative and try all sorts of ideas for events! We plan game nights, sports-watching parties, field trips, capture-the-flag, movie nights, and all kinds of other events.
The Outreach & Marketing Peer Minister's role is two-fold. Firstly, it is his/her job to run our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and send weekly emails updating other students on what is happening at St. Teresa's. He/she also comes up with new ways to reach out to and contact students. Secondly, this person finds ways in which we can partner with other faith-based groups on campus.
