Welcome to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Student Center!

St. Teresa's is the Catholic Student Center for students at Valparaiso University and other local colleges.  It is our hope to offer you a life-changing encounter with Christ as you CONNECT, GROW, and SERVE.  We hope that you can make this community your own faith home and we look forward to sharing it with you during your time in college!

We have a variety of opportunites for you in the areas of community life, spiritual growth, and service. In addition, we are a community where you can connect with friends and just hang out for an evening.

Community Life

Human beings are made for connection, both with God and with one another. Saint Mother Teresa was wise in pointing out, "The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved." At St. Teresa's, the invisible God is made visible in the laughs shared, the good times had, and the friendships built.

Spiritual Growth

The years spent in college are very formative in a person's life; growing in understanding of self and others. Our Lord desires that your relationship with Him continues to grow as well! One of the greatest spiritual writers of all time, St. John of the Cross says, "It should be known that if a person is seeking God, God is seeking him much more."

Service Opportunities

In remarks following his ordination as bishop of Fort Worth, Texas, Bishop Michael Olson explained that, "Jesus desires followers, not admirers." If we are authentic disciples, followers of Jesus, we are called to do as He did: Visit the sick, reach out to the marginalized, and be a voice for the voiceless. In living out these works of mercy, we are not simply 'nice people', but serve as the very face of Jesus Christ to those around us.  Learn more...
