The Parish Life Commission

The mission and purpose of the Parish Life Commission is to promote family life, to help build community at our center, support and work with the VU college students and their ministries and to work with and support the Youth Ministry. This Commission identifies the needs for social and communal activities and programs that will strengthen the faith community and give people a sense of belonging. The Commission collaborates with the other Commissions whenever possible in implementing programs.

Special Events

Watch the bulletin or website for fun events each month including such activities as, theater outings, family baseball games, bowling, and a golf outing to name a few.

We also offer the opportunity to play Volley Ball and Softball. Men's and Co-ed teams are formed.

Adopt a VU Student

Interested families support students with prayer and encouragement throughout the school year. Special student-family social events are offered throughout the year. Students and families may plan other shared activities planned on their own. Suggestions are submitted for planning and seasonal events.

The Amazing Race

September: A spectacular event that is available to the VU students and community members. Teams are formed. Teams are given destinations and challenges must
be completed at each location to finish the race for cash rewards! The race ends and the fun continues with an Amazing Party at the Student Center.

Interested in helping out?
Host an event at your home. All you have to do is provide the location. The challenge is planned and all that is necessary to complete the challenge is provided. Help with set up and clean up for the party. Be a driver for a team.

Euchre Parties

Enjoy food, prizes, and little competitive fun one Friday per month during the VU school year. For a donation of $5.00 for students and, $10.00 for other community members you get all the food you can eat starting at 6:30 P.M. and play starts at 7:00 P.M. Proceeds go to charitable causes throughout the year. Help prepare the food, set up and clean up. Come support and bond with the VU students.

Doughnut Sunday

Enjoy donuts, coffee and conversation after morning Mass on the first Sunday of each month. One time sign up to order and pick up donuts juice, etc. and set up and clean up. (St. Teresa's pays for the items.)

Funeral Luncheons Ministry

Volunteer to help on an 'as needed' bases for this ministry. The Funeral luncheons are in need of people that would be available during the day when needed to help cook, set up and clean up. Make a dessert for the luncheon.

Young at Hearts

The Young at Hearts ministry is committed to serving the spiritual and social needs of our mature community members. The activities are geared to people 50 years young and over; however, adults of all ages are welcome. They meet each month for Mass and Breakfast. Help plan events, attend the mass and breakfast. Provide transportation for those who would like to attend and do not have transportation.

Parish Picnic

We celebrate the end of summer with a fun filled picnic on a Sunday in August. There is something for everyone young and old. Mass is usually celebrated at Camp Lawrence. Be the chairperson for planning the picnic. Work with the chairperson on the planning of the picnic. Sign up to work where ever needed, it take many hands to make this a success.

Trunk or Treating

This October event provides family fun. There is food, games and of course trick or treating! It even includes a Chili Cook-Off.  Chairing the event, develop a team to plan the event. Volunteer to be part of the team to help plan the event, Set up and clean up. Decorate your trunk and hand out treats to the goblins.

Road Side Clean up

St. Teresa's has committed to cleaning along Sturdy Rd. between US 30 and Division Rd. This event takes place twice a year. March/April and October/November. Anyone 16 years old and older are welcome to participate. Breakfast is served after the clean up.  Participating in a ministry that helps the community of Valparaiso. Volunteering to help with breakfast set up and clean up.
