St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Student Center

During the construction it is important that everyone be adaptable and patient. We wanted to erect the Life Center during the summer because it is the least busy time of the year. That doesn’t mean there aren’t still a few logistical issues. The biggest issue will be parking. During construction the back entrance to church will not be available; neither will the double door to Café Manna.

There will still be parking in the north lot on Lincolnway. If you park in this lot you will be asked to walk down the drive on the east side of the property to the sidewalk on Laporte, then over to the front of Church.  We also ask that those who can, please walk around the property and leave the Laporte or south parking lot for parishioners who may have a harder time. We have also received permission from the city to park on Laporte Avenue during construction.

Café Manna Thursday dinners will continue throughout the summer. As you can see on the map we will be using the door on the east side of the Café Manna instead of the main double door. There will be a very short period of construction where we will not be able to use this area, but it should be very minimal.

We would like to thank everyone in the community for their input on this building. Without YOUR efforts and feedback none of this would have been possible. YOUR input led directly to the plans listed above. This was truly a group effort and we can’t thank you enough. With your support this will truly be OUR Ministry Life Center.   We cannot wait to see how the new Ministry Life Center will enhance our parish and our surrounding community. There are doors to be opened we cannot even fathom; only God knows where this will lead us. Thank you again.

God Bless,

Leap of Faith Building Campaign

Just a quick update to get everyone up to speed on the progress of the new Ministry Life Center.   We are now ready to begin construction!

The final plans include the following:

· The first floor will be an open area for large functions; this area will also have a large partition that can split the area in half if needed. There will also be new restrooms as well as a coat room.

· The second floor will have a faith sharing room. This room was designed to be a multipurpose room. It will have a kitchenette as well as plenty of space to accommodate 30 people for RCIA, bible study, etc.

· The second floor will also have a new area for the students to study, play, or just hang out. The student area will have a study room, game area, television area, a kitchenette, and future space which could become a chapel area just for students.

· Their will also be additional office space as well as restrooms and storage on the second floor as well.

· The old Café Manna area will now become much needed storage area as well as a food staging area for the kitchen when the new building is being used at capacity.

· The kitchen will get a small makeover as well. We will be expanding by adding much needed counter space, a second sink area, new drying tables, and new equipment such as a double oven, ice machine, commercial refrigerator, commercial freezer and warming racks.
